The Economic and Social Council works to promote international economic and social cooperation and development, focusing on issues such as sustainable development, poverty eradication, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.

The Trusteeship Council was established to oversee the administration of trust territories and ensure their transition to self-government or independence. It completed its mission in 1994 after all trust territories had achieved self-government or independence.

The International Court of Justice is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, settling legal disputes between states and providing advisory opinions on legal questions raised by UN bodies. It is located in The Hague, Netherlands.

The Secretariat is the administrative arm of the United Nations, headed by the Secretary-General who is responsible for carrying out the daily operations of the organization. The Secretary-General is appointed by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council.
